Sport

Sport

Leda ESC strongly believes in the adoption of healthy lifestyles and making healthy life choices and as such our students participate in an integrated sports program with Leda PS as well as school sports days, interschool sports and swimming carnivals.

Throughout the year we also attend WA Disabled Sports Association (WADSA) organised sporting events including Ten Pin Bowling, BOCCE and Tabloid Sports days.

In addition we also combine with our ESC network and participate in interschool swimming carnivals, athletics carnivals and beach carnivals.  These are all designed to cater for children with special needs.

Each week students from the junior classes participate in swimming lessons at Kwinana Recquatic. These Lessons are made possible by an ongoing community partnership with Kwinana Recquatic. "We as a community must find creative ways to effectively serve our children, and the CIty is proud to be a part of such an important initiative," said City of Kwinana Mayor Carol Adams.

Swimming provides many benefits to our students which, while not always apparent to the observer, promotes a sense of wellbeing, maximise body function and independence, improve mood while increasing self-esteem and provide fitness opportunities while endorsing water safety principles.

Horse Riding

RIDING FOR THE DISABLED

Students in our senior class attend weekly horse riding lessons at the Baldivis Pony Club. The riding lessons are run by RDA. We believe that students with disabilities can obtain beneficial results from association with horses. The movement of a horse strengthens muscles throughout a rider’s body and promotes better overall health. Riding can also increase mobility for the rider. Horses can also provide psychological benefits to students whether they actually ride or not.
